"Hotel California"

IMG_1631 The title of this track is me paying homage to the beautiful weather we're having in California lately. Being from Arizona, I like it a little on the warmer side and today was just that. At 10 AM I was tanning on my front lawn while I studied, and by 6 PM when I was walking home from my favorite coffee shop, it was still just as warm. I'm grateful because yes, it reminds me of Arizona, but I also know that its a lot hotter there right now, so I'm enjoying this.

I opted to stay cool in a loose woven lace top and vintage shorts, accessorized with a new DIY headband and some non-too-fussy arm candy.

Here's the track for you. Listen along while you view!

OOTD_89 + Haul Video!

DSC_0859 I have finally found a pair of camo skinnies! I was searching everywhere for some and I'm glad I waited because I really like the detailing on these ones from Forever 21. These pants are really lightweight which is going to be great for the warmer months ahead. Since there is a stripe down the side, I wanted to pair them with a dressier shoe for a sportswear look. These shoes have a bit of a heel so it achieved that for me, and I definitely had in mind some fancier camo look such as this one that I love!

OOTD 69_"Ace of Spades"

DSC_0255 This morning was sunny but chilly, and I was heading out to get my hair trimmed. I decided to go casual with this thrifted Motorhead tee and then dress it up with my accessories. The warm colors in the shirt pointed me in the direction of my gold jewelry, gold studs, and warm-toned cheetah print flats. This outfit was stylish, yet allowed me to stay comfy when I headed to the library later in the day.

Today's outfit track is of course "Ace of Spades" by Motorhead, what else? Listen along below.

Today was a good and productive day. I normally don't enjoy doing homework on Saturdays, but I did today and have decided this quarter that it will help me be less stressed out. I read a good quote today while waiting at the salon that said it's best to tackle your most difficult tasks first thing, because otherwise you will waste your energy worrying about it and not be as productive in the long run. Something to keep in mind! Today was also the first time I handed out one of my new business cards which was exciting!

DIY_Leather + Vinyl Clutch

Today I am finally sharing with you the DIY for the leather + vinyl clutch I wore in one of my recents outfit posts (see it here!). I was inspired by this clutch, and wanted to make my own. This is a very simple project with a great final product, so try it out!

1_Purchase some clear vinyl and black faux leather. I got mine at my local craft store. As for the vinyl, try to get one with a decent weight to it, so that it provides a little structure to the clutch

2_Create a pattern out of printer paper. I first used a standard 8.5" x 11" to be the size of the pouch. I then cut another sheet of paper into a point, to resemble an envelope. You have freedom to create as long or short of a flap as you'd like. Tape these two pieces together and cut the shape out of the black faux leather. As for the clear vinyl, just cut out a piece the size of an 8.5" x 11" sheet.

3_Here is what the two fabric shapes should look like

4_By this step, I have hand stitched the two pieces together. I attempted to machine stitch this, but was pretty unsuccessful. Hand sewing got the job done, but I would like to try and find a method in the future that is a little cleaner looking.

Purchase a snap and follow the instructions according to the package to attach it to the clutch. You will probably need a hammer to attach it onto the fabric.

Also at this step, I have cut a piece of cardboard that fits inside the clear part of the clutch. This is going to give the clutch structure, because it is quite flimsy without it.

Cut a piece of your faux leather and wrap it around the clutch. Attach with hot or tacky glue.

Insert this piece into the clutch with the leather side out. It will blend right in!

And here is the final product! Get previews of all of my DIY's by following along on my Instagram, @punkrockparti
