Little Linear Dress, the Work Version of an LBD

IMG_4317 This striped dress is the perfect thing to throw on when I'm crunched for time but need to look professional. You may remember that it served me well for an interview and a studio review, and on this day it was great for an early morning at work. The high neck keeps it classy but the cutoff sleeves keep me cool in the AZ heat. I paired with it some black shoes with a little height, and my every day bag. This bag has gold accents on the bottom, so I went another step to go all black and gold by adding a bangle and Casio watch.

I've been working so many days lately that I've missed my cutoffs and band tees. Luckily tonight is my good friend's birthday and I'll get to dress down a bit for a night of bowling to celebrate!

"The Science of Selling Yourself Short"

DSC_1276 You know what this background means? I'm back in Arizona! I wore this outfit to a family party on Saturday, and couldn't resist taking some photos in front of the amazing flowers in my backyard. Every year my parents and I get really excited about these flowers, so it's kind of a fun tradition to pose in front of them. Although most of this outfit is very simple, I love the big punch this skirt adds for a spring event!

Today's outfit track is "The Science of Selling Yourself Short" by Less Than Jake because I love the upbeat tune. Listen along here while you view!

DSC_0551 Today I wanted to show how I transitioned the same dress from day to night, but when both looks are very casual and involve a lot of basics. The first outfit is what I wore to walk downtown to my favorite coffee shop and study, and the second shows how I added some extra layers for going to studio later in the night.

Although I wore a lot of red in my past two outfit posts, I am finding that I am more drawn to wearing neutrals now that my hair is a bolder color. I really like how the color looks against denim and black. I'll have to experiment with neutrals more in the next few weeks!

Since it was dark while I wanted to shoot this, I ended up in my room. However, I don't mind this because I like showing aspects of my space and one of the latest painting I've been working on!
