"Disorder and Disarray"

IMG_0127 As promised, here is the outfit I wore to style the denim jacket I upcycled in yesterday's DIY! To avoid wearing double denim, I paired it with my leather skater skirt which also gave a nice contrast of textures. In order to not let the look get too feminine, I laced up my Sk8-Hi's and really like how the look turned out.

Today I chose a Rancid song for today's outfit because of the patch on my jacket. Listen along to one of my favorites, "Disorder and Disarray" while you view here!

In case you noticed, yes I did upgrade to a new camera. If you're interested, I chose the Canon Rebel T3i. It's only been a few days, but I would definitely recommend it if you are in the market!

OOTD_90: "Tough And Girly"

DSC_0932 Today's #coasttocoastchallenge was "Tough and Girly." Since a feminine yet edgy look is basically my every day style, I decided to go all out by contrasting some of my most edgy pieces with this very girly floral dress.

A big part of the making this outfit "tough" is the fit of this vest. The oversized piece really tones down the flowy dress to make it a little more casual. I also wouldn't normally pair two studded pieces together, but I really like how all of the silver accents are picking up in this look.

DSC_1022 I'm finally back with a new outfit post, and even better, I am home in Arizona (I took the above photo in my backyard)! I'm loving how this outfit came together. I sometimes find it hard to style this denim vest because of the short crop, but pairing it with this long tunic was the perfect solution. After figuring out the silhouette, I wanted to add some polish so I accessorized with my sparkly Toms and some shiny details with my statement ring and the detailing on my clutch. These outfit can also be easily transformed for cooler weather by throwing a neutral colored hoodie under the vest!

On top of loving this outfit, I'm also proud about how inexpensive all of the pieces are! I encourage you to go thrifting and also to hold back on purchases sometimes until you can find a killer sale. Sometimes you'll get really lucky like I did with these Toms--they would normally retail for $54 dollars, but I found this pair at my local consignment store and paid for them with the credit I received from donating my old clothes!
