Girl On Fire

IMG_4986 A lot of the street style I've been admiring as of late has been from European cities and New York. These styles are, not surprisingly, very focused on neutrals. This influence as well as my transition into office attire has me wearing a lot more neutral outfits than usual. I'm not complaining, but for the summer season I think color is necessary. On this day I pulled out my DIY clutch that adds a statement to my outfit, but still stays professional with its hardware detailing.

After wearing this thrifted maxi skirt once before, I was torn between chopping off the interior lining, or just leaving it be. Well, I spotted my fabric scissors one day and that skirt had a new fate. I am so glad I cut it! I love that the lace detail shows now, adding so much more depth to my outfit.

Floral and Fauna

IMG_4216 This is the dress I wore to my cousin's June wedding. I didn't get a chance to document it while I was in North Dakota, but luckily for me it is the perfect dress to wear to dinner in the hot Arizona summer. Besides the pretty floral print, I love the leg slits, v-neck, and strappy back. Details like this are what makes this maxi have a 90's vibe.

For a summer wedding, I don't think you need to wear with anything too fussy, which is why I opted for sandals. I finished off the look with my grandmother's vintage clutch (which may have actually gotten more compliments than the dress!) Finally, although I kept it simple at the wedding, for dinner I piled on an arm cuff and a couple interesting rings.

"Paradise City"

IMG_2313 A few posts ago I talked about layering, and I found that I am playing with it again today! I wore this outfit yesterday, and layered this very oversized tee over a feminine lace skirt. This layering was perfect for me because this skirt tends to ride up in the front meaning I am constantly pulling it down. The longer shirt keeps it down so I am more worry free, and I also like how it looks like the lace is coming from the tee!

Fancy Friday

IMG_1685 It became an architecture-major-wide tradition for my grade to start dressing up at the end of the week in honor of "Fancy Fridays." I'm sure there was a certain studio that can take credit for making up the tradition, but no matter who did, it still gets followed. Sometimes we will all plan to do it one Friday, but even if we don't, sometimes I still like to get a little fancier in celebration for the weekend. I wore this fun printed dress yesterday paired with a heeled boot and minimal accessories!
