This video features a custom longboard I painted for a client, who was gifting the deck to her friend for her 40th birthday! How sweet is that?! I love getting to hear your stories + connect through skateboard art.
I am too stoked to share this deck with you today! Here's why it was so fun...
First off, this is one of my handmade decks. There is something about having created the canvas as well as the art that I just love.
Another highlight of this project, was that my friend Jake came up with the concept for this deck. It was inspired from a song by Four Year Strong, our favorite pop punk band.
We worked side by side in my studio on this piece. Him providing his opinions and comments, and me sketching and painting. It was so awesome to have him next to me weighing in, because I typically communicate with custom clients over email.
Finally, this design was just rad in general. Tattoo-inspired-art was a huge influence for me when I first started painting skateboards, and it was nice to go back to those roots.
Big thanks to Jake for his amazing idea + for riding this baby around at school!

I'm proud to say I finished my last skateboard deck! I was a little worried about finishing this painting before I left for Denmark because I thought the lettering would be difficult, but luckily a spurt of confidence enabled me to finish just in time. This deck was requested by a client in Canada (it is so cool to be sending these out internationally) as a gift for his best man. It was an honor to create this special of a present. My reference image was sent to me by the client of the car, and we went from there!
Unfortunately this is my last painted skateboard deck for a while. It will be too difficult for me to find supplies and work on shipping costs from here, but perhaps this will give me a chance to work on some other art forms. Until then, you can check out my other skateboard decks at my art section or see what's currently offered in my Etsy shop!
Thanks so much for checking out and appreciating my work! x.
P.S. The wi-fi has been a lot trickier to deal with here in Denmark than I originally planned. I have also been super busy with orientation, but I imagine when I start working on campus next week when school starts, I will have a much easier time!
I get so excited whenever I get a commission for a new pick guard because they are so small that I can do them quickly, yet I still get to challenge myself with the placement of images and text on such an odd shape. This request was from a guitar-playing biologist, that wanted a gold guard with outline, his initials, and an (accurate) DNA helix. He gave me freedom with choosing the script for his initials, and I decided to use the Gibson guitar font because that's what model this guard will get screwed onto. I am excited to have done another guard and like the eye catching look of this one!
