OOTD_99 "American Girl"

DSC_1303 well i think it's safe to say that spring is here. however, i haven't just realized this because of the weather, but by how i am dressing. i find myself reaching for fringe, hats, colorful pieces, and have started stacking on the rings. this is all resulting in outfits that i feel are great for festival season. although i've stuck to small concerts rather than Coachella, these outfits have been the perfect compliment to extra daylight and warm sun (that i'm soaking in as i blog from my porch).

although this outfit isn't red, white, and blue, i think it's laid back vibe says americana which is why i chose today's outfit track to be "American Girl" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. just listen along here and you'll understand.

OOTD_75: "Disorder and Disarray"

DSC_0661 I think this may have been the first time I've worn these high waisted cheetah print jeans on the blog, and really not sure why because I love how wild they are. I knew I needed to pair them up with my new Litas because the wood tone in the heels went so well with the color of the pants. I balanced the bottom of the outfit out with neutrals, but made sure they were edgy pieces. I think my cross tee, leather jacket, and spiked headband are just that.

The song for today's outfit post is "Disorder and Disarray"by Rancid. Listen along here while you view!

DIY_Printed Giftwrap

holidiy 4 intro I have made printed gift wrap in past years, and wanted to make some more than was specifically customized for the person receiving the gift. I made a dreamcatcher inspired wrapping and also a music inspired paper. I have also made tags to really complete the look and add a special touch. I hope you enjoy this tutorial!

DSC_1185

To create the feather print paper, I simply freehand painted some feathers onto craft paper with black acrylic paint. I suggest mixing the paint with a little water so that you can paint more freely.

DSC_1187

For the dreamcatcher tag, I used a store bought round paper tag, and drew on the dreamcatcher pattern with an ink pen. I added some beads in red.

DSC_1192

For the feathers, I used the ink pen to draw feathers onto the craft paper. I then simply cut them out and taped them to the back of the tag where I added the to/from message.

DSC_1194

Here is how the gifts look wrapped! I finished them off with some red raffia for a rustic feel that matched the red beads.

DSC_1198

For the music inspired paper, I used this large sheet music stamp that I had around from a past project from Michael's. Instead of using ink, I used the same acrylic paint and water mixture to create the pattern.

DSC_1202

I repeated the stamp until I had a paper printed with music notes. You could also wrap a gift in sheet music!

DSC_1249

For the customized tag, I folded a sheet of red paper in half lengthwise and sketched out an electric guitar. I cut this out, added the message, and attached to the gift!

Here is the music inspired wrapping! These packages were finished off with a festive plaid bow.

DSC_1223 After making this skull tee last night, I needed to wear it right away. Today Jake and I were headed to Trader Joe's so we could make lunch and also worked on some upcoming DIY projects for the holiDIY series! Tonight we're headed to the record store, so I was sure to bring a warm jacket. I picked this denim one up from Goodwill yesterday while I was shopping for tees and fabric for projects. I like the throwback vibe of this outfit and completed it with some old patterned Keds to tie the whole look together.
