Cardigan + Cutoffs

IMG_3878 A piece that I have been lusting over for months now is the American Apparel Modal Shawl Cardigan. It's a big ticket item that I think I will invest in before leaving for Copenhagen, but until then I have been on the hunt for something similar at thrift stores. That's why I was stoked when my bestie gave this one to me yesterday (that she thrifted) because she didn't like how it looked on her. We trade clothes like this quite often, and I gladly accepted! I think it will look great with dresses, but yesterday I paired it with a simple tank and shorts combo to stay cool.

On my Instagram earlier today I posted this photo of a DIY tank I made in case anyone needed some outfit ideas for the 4th tomorrow!

It is pretty simple to make--just cut fringe and add beads, but if you need a more in-depth tutorial I have posted it below! This tutorial was the first DIY video I ever made back when my best friend and I tried starting up a YouTube channel. It's pretty embarrassing I'll admit, but still useful! Enjoy and have a good holiday!

DIY Asos Inspired Aztec Tank

If you read my outfit post Desert Vibes, then you saw my latest DIY creation, an aztec embellished top! I was inspired by the tank top below, which I originally spotted on Asos. The brand is called "Freak of Nature" and I'm obsessed with their southwestern yet edgy pieces that have graphic prints, cutouts, and interesting textiles. I loved the cool southwestern feel of this top, and wanted to recreate it. I chose to just do the aztec trim for a simpler look to suit my own style, but you could add the turquoise beads and fringe as well! IMG_3155 my DIY

A litle trip update: I'm blogging from the road again and will be home in a few hours!

Thanks so much for reading, and have a great weekend!

OOTD_99 "American Girl"

DSC_1303 well i think it's safe to say that spring is here. however, i haven't just realized this because of the weather, but by how i am dressing. i find myself reaching for fringe, hats, colorful pieces, and have started stacking on the rings. this is all resulting in outfits that i feel are great for festival season. although i've stuck to small concerts rather than Coachella, these outfits have been the perfect compliment to extra daylight and warm sun (that i'm soaking in as i blog from my porch).

although this outfit isn't red, white, and blue, i think it's laid back vibe says americana which is why i chose today's outfit track to be "American Girl" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. just listen along here and you'll understand.

OOTD_91 "Cactus in the valley"

DSC_0917 I've recently found that I'm having trouble making my outfits interesting and have depth as the days get warmer because I'm not able to layer as much as I'd like. The perfect solution to this problem is a vest. The cut of it still leaves you cool, but you've added some dimension to your outfit as well. I have 4 vests in my closet (3 of them DIYed!) that I think will be getting a lot of wear in the coming months.

The track for today's outfit post is "Cactus in the valley" by Lights, whose music I have featured on here before in this outfit post. Listen along here while you view!
