Design Trade Show Copenhagen

IMG_6661 On Thursday I was lucky enough to attend the Design Trade Show-Copenhagen in Ørestad! The event was held at the Bella Center which is only 2 metro stops away from my apartment in Amager. I found out about the show from a fellow student, and attended under the title of "student + blogger." This is one of the first times I introduced myself to curators and designers as a blogger, so it was also an exciting step for me!

I was completely blown away by all of the Scandinavian design. The event showcased not only furniture and lighting, but also thesis projects, home accessories, and art. Since I also received a lot of information and handouts about the companies and designers, I did my best to try and include it for you as well so that you could get as excited about these designs as I did and continue researching if you so choose! Enjoy!

If you're curious about what I wore to the event, don't miss yesterday's style post!

Colored acrylic home goods by Made 2 Measure.

Bloomingville had a large setup which I loved because it was minimalistic but had edgy pieces and color mixed in. I'm all for simple design, but employing color in a space gives it some life!

"Forest and Meadow" was a showcase of all Polish designers, and this gorgeous light fixture by Pani Jurek was a lovely organic surprise amongst more stark pieces.

Uber cute miniature versions of Danish architect Arne Jacobsen's Egg Chair by 1:6 Design.

One of my favorite setups had to be these designs by Designritter. These tables are created out of oriented strand board (plywood) and the rough texture was eliminated by covering the pieces with colored spackle, and then sanded down. It was almost unreal how smooth these were to the touch, and I loved the feminine cut of the design in contrast to the raw looking material.

Some of the most interesting showcases to me were the student work and thesis projects, because I enjoyed seeing the talent from people my age. I thought this idea of creating furniture in a week from a raw material was really interesting, and something I would like to try myself.

My other favorite designer at the show was Miriam Ortwed. I had actually spotted one of her prints at a store earlier in the week (similar to the one on her business card above), but her laser cut layered pillows are what really caught my attention. I am a huge fan of mixing digital fabrication + textiles, and her work didn't disappoint. I feel that her designs are well-crafted and intelligent, but also maintain a sense of playfulness. Ahh I am so obsessed with her work! Definitely will keep my eye out around town for more pieces.

There was of course a multitude of incredible work displayed at the trade show, but I thought I would share a small curation of just my favorites. If you are interested in more pieces, I would be happy to share more websites or photos with you! Just ask in a comment or email me at!

Finally, I will leave you with this poster I spotted in the blogger-curated section by Allan of Bungalow5. The print is by poster brand Froh & Frau. I guess my future is looking pretty good from behind my laptop...ha! Thanks for stopping by, x. Paige

Ain't No Rest for the Wicked

IMG_2378 I picked up this tee at the Urban sale over the weekend for 5 bucks (!) and couldn't wait to wear it! I am all about the minimalism and neutrals lately, so I paired it with vintage boots and shorts. I love how this outfit turned out because its cool and casual, but not too in your face. If you don't want to look too thrown together, throw on your favorite jewels! I layered up my rings and earrings for an eclectic vibe.

I've had this song stuck in my head recently ever since my friend told me to listen to Cage The Elephant more. Listen along while you view!

With the month of December coming to an end, I went into 2013 thinking about a few of my favorite things. This month's favorites are all across the board, from things I got for Christmas (and love) to things I'm lusting over to things I am never realistically going to buy, but like to pretend I own on Polyvore. December Favorites

1_the infamous beauty blender_ i recently got my knock-off version at TJ Maxx for 6 bucks so check that out if you can. i completely reccomend this beauty tool for blending your foundation, it makes my skin look airbrushed and i don't know how i lived without it! 2_Goody Quikstyle hairbrush_i found this in my Christmas stocking and in my opinion, it really does work! this brush is designed to help your hair dry quicker while you style it with the use of the sponge within the bristles and the vented sides. you can find this product at Walgreens or Target 3_eos Smooth Lipbalm Sphere_also in my stocking, this yummy strawberry sorbet chapstick that hasn't left my side since Christmas morning.

1_Maison Margiela for H&M Bracelet_yeah...still kicking myself for not getting my hands on one of these minimalist pieces while they were still in store 2_knuckle ring_my friend Morgan had been a fan of this style of ring for a while now, and I got one for Christmas! it's a great addition to my ring collection. you can see the one I've been wearing by bar III from Macy's in this outfit post. I also like this one from Macy's. 3_state necklace_see my DIY plexiglass Arizona necklace in this outfit post and this one too that I've been wearing non-stop ever since I made it. this is a really cool way to show your hometown pride, especially if you live away from home.

1_velvet leggings_i'm not sure if its the fact that i was in a hotter climate this month or the relaxation factor that comes with the holidays, but i really was just not in the mood to wear real pants. therefore, i was very grateful to receive an assortment of leggings for gifts, and like these velvet ones I got by HUE from Dillard's. 2_hello red pullover_it's no secret that i'm a sucker for a good crewneck, and this clever one by Hello Merch is one of my current favorites on my wish list. this company is run by one of the former members of my favorite band, The Format, making this sweatshirt even that much cooler. 3_geek sweater_another graphic sweater, i recently got this one at PacSun by the brand Kirra. i've been wearing it a lot lately, but it has yet to make an appearance on the blog. stay tuned for that!

1_hologram heels_these pumps by Stella McCartney are very on trend. the hologram is the perfect amount futuristic and also attracts my 6-year-old spirit that still loves rainbows and Lisa Frank anything. 2_Leather Sk8-Hi Platform_i covet a new signature pair of Vans every year, and I want these to be on my feet next. similar to the classic Sk8-Hi's, this shoe gets a facelift with a higher platform and leather. i may with go with the classics for the practicality of skateboarding and daily wear, but i like these oh so much. 3_Tardy's_these platform lace up boots by Jeffrey Campbell have been on every fashion bloggers feet lately and I wish I could say the same myself!
