OOTD_75: "Disorder and Disarray"

DSC_0661 I think this may have been the first time I've worn these high waisted cheetah print jeans on the blog, and really not sure why because I love how wild they are. I knew I needed to pair them up with my new Litas because the wood tone in the heels went so well with the color of the pants. I balanced the bottom of the outfit out with neutrals, but made sure they were edgy pieces. I think my cross tee, leather jacket, and spiked headband are just that.

The song for today's outfit post is "Disorder and Disarray"by Rancid. Listen along here while you view!

DSC_1022 I'm finally back with a new outfit post, and even better, I am home in Arizona (I took the above photo in my backyard)! I'm loving how this outfit came together. I sometimes find it hard to style this denim vest because of the short crop, but pairing it with this long tunic was the perfect solution. After figuring out the silhouette, I wanted to add some polish so I accessorized with my sparkly Toms and some shiny details with my statement ring and the detailing on my clutch. These outfit can also be easily transformed for cooler weather by throwing a neutral colored hoodie under the vest!

On top of loving this outfit, I'm also proud about how inexpensive all of the pieces are! I encourage you to go thrifting and also to hold back on purchases sometimes until you can find a killer sale. Sometimes you'll get really lucky like I did with these Toms--they would normally retail for $54 dollars, but I found this pair at my local consignment store and paid for them with the credit I received from donating my old clothes!

DSC_1297 copy It has been drizzly and cold all weekend, so today I biked downtown to meet my friends at our favorite coffee shop to keep warm and work on some essays because we are applying for study abroad! I dressed in dark neutrals that went well with my DIY studded denim vest and creepers that I felt I hadn't worn in a while. I also took my own photos today, which I sometimes I enjoy doing because I feel like I can capture a certain mood that I'm trying to convey.

DIY_Grommet Bracelet

i saw this grommet trim the other day at my local craft store, and thought that it was begging to be made into a bracelet! it was relatively inexpensive project, about 5 dollars because the trim cost $8.99 a yard (i used a little less than half of a yard) and i think it makes a great addition to my black and gold jewelry collection!

1_you will need grommet trim, matching gold jump rings, scissors, and a clasp 2_measure around your wrist and cut two pieces of trim at that size 3_next, i trimmed off one the side edges on each piece. this helped for the next step when i hooked the two pieces of trim together so that they didn't overlap. 4_hook the two pieces of trim together at every other grommet using the jump rings. with jump rings this large, i didn't even need to use pliers.

finally, attach a clasp to create a closure for your bracelet. i decided to use a small gold safety pin for a more edgy look, and just threaded the last jump ring through the safety pin hole.

and that's it! i love my new bracelet and hope you enjoyed this DIY. feel free to leave comments or questions!
