Girl On Fire

IMG_4986 A lot of the street style I've been admiring as of late has been from European cities and New York. These styles are, not surprisingly, very focused on neutrals. This influence as well as my transition into office attire has me wearing a lot more neutral outfits than usual. I'm not complaining, but for the summer season I think color is necessary. On this day I pulled out my DIY clutch that adds a statement to my outfit, but still stays professional with its hardware detailing.

After wearing this thrifted maxi skirt once before, I was torn between chopping off the interior lining, or just leaving it be. Well, I spotted my fabric scissors one day and that skirt had a new fate. I am so glad I cut it! I love that the lace detail shows now, adding so much more depth to my outfit.

Sunday Morning Rain is Falling...

IMG_4828 Monsoon season is in full force over here in AZ. However, just because it's rainy, doesn't mean it gets cold. On Sunday I sported my favorite beanie and Docs to gear up against the rain, but still showed some skin and kept cool with cutoffs and a tank. I've noticed that I've been wearing a lot of neutrals recently, so I decided to add some neon to spice up this look. I love how it was a surprise pop, and reminds me to throw some more color into my outfits.

On this day, Jake and I puddle jumped over to Goodwill to search for some vintage goodies. I scored this camera for $6, and after loading it up with film, it was set to go! I'm excited to put it to use this summer because film causes you to photograph in a different way because you're more limited. As for digital photography, keep up with me on Instagram for snaps like this one!

Grow Young

IMG_4670 What better way to beat the heat than to play with the cutout trend? I paired this summery dress with brown leather accessories for a light summer look. Since I had already styled this dress in a quite bohemian way the last time I wore it, I was planning to wear it with combat boots to edge it up. However, my most recent purchase, these gladiator sandals, have me drawn to my tan leather and gold accessories because they are so cute and lightweight.

You may have also noticed a little change, and no, my hair didn't magically grow over night. I bought extensions over the weekend! I used to think hair extensions were strange and not for me, but I hated my recent haircut (remind me never to say 'yes' to layers again) so I figured, why not? If you have any tips on extensions, I'd love to hear them because I'm pretty new to this!

Cactus Lace

IMG_4373 Since I have started working 8-hour days and coming home in the evening, I have been trying to choose work outfits that are still cute for nighttime wear. Although I might not be able to get away with this look in some offices, I am lucky that mine is somewhat casual. I also think most people in Arizona are reasonable with getting a little more casual in the workplace because it is just so hot. I stayed cool in these detailed pieces, a lace tank and a self-altered thrifted skirt.

Today was a really rewarding day at work for me. Since I started at my new job, I have been juggling a couple of land properties. In the past 2 days, I concentrated on one property in Chandler and created a site plan in order to get some feedback from the city's Planning and Development Department. Today I got to print out large copies of my site plan and go turn it in at their office. It was such a cool feeling to create something on my own that was for a real piece of land, rather than a school project!

Thanks so much for stopping by! What have you been up to this week? x, Paige
