Girl On Fire

IMG_4986 A lot of the street style I've been admiring as of late has been from European cities and New York. These styles are, not surprisingly, very focused on neutrals. This influence as well as my transition into office attire has me wearing a lot more neutral outfits than usual. I'm not complaining, but for the summer season I think color is necessary. On this day I pulled out my DIY clutch that adds a statement to my outfit, but still stays professional with its hardware detailing.

After wearing this thrifted maxi skirt once before, I was torn between chopping off the interior lining, or just leaving it be. Well, I spotted my fabric scissors one day and that skirt had a new fate. I am so glad I cut it! I love that the lace detail shows now, adding so much more depth to my outfit.

"Fly Like an Eagle"

IMG_0166 As promised, here is how I styled the statement belt that I mentioned in yesterday's post from my trip to a new vintage store in town! To compliment it's americana feel, I paired it with a classic white blouse and jean shorts. I love the natural vibe of this outfit, and how my gold and turquoise accessories finish it off.

I wore this outfit to Zia Records and dinner with my friends last night. At the store I picked up The Steve Miller Band's greatest hits album for a few bucks. Listening to it today, I realized "Fly Like and Eagle" was the perfect track for today's outfit to compliment my eagle belt. Listen along to the song below while you view!

OOTD_87 "Rude Mood"

DSC_0846 I've recently been introduced to Stevie Ray Vaughan by Jake and after listening to him on vinyl together and seeing his style, my desire for a concho style hat increased. So when I found out Forever 21 had this spiked version for sale, I decided I needed to head over there and add this piece to my wardrobe. I love styling this hat with a pair of ankle boots, and this this almost western style shirt that is modernized with the leather detailing. Finally, I added in this floral skirt to girl up the look.

So of course because he is the inspiration, the track for today's outfit is "Rude Mood" by Stevie Ray Vaughan. Listen along here while you view to get the whole vibe!
